We moved to Florida in 2005 so I could work as the Trails Manager for the National Forests in Florida. It took a few years to hike, bike, and ride all the trails on the three Forests (Apalachicola, Osceola, and Ocala). In 2010 Michelle Mitchell (Florida National Scenic Trail administrator) moved to our Regional Office in Atlanta. After a brief search for a replacement the Forest Supervisor asked if I’d take on the additional duties. This started me on a journey to see all the segments of the Florida Trail. There are still many roadwalks in order to connect the Trail. I completed the last trail segment on January 5, 2014. They added up to 1,119.1 miles. And I retired on January 10. I was the first manager to see every segment and drive every roadwalk.
