2007 Jim Schmid helps reroute Twilight Trail – Apalachicola National Forest, FL

The Twilight Trail was a user created trail south of the Munson Hills Mountain Bike Trail in the Apalachicola National Forest. Both trails were just a short drive from where Sandra and I live in Tallahassee, FL. I spent many an evening and weekend biking and working on these trails. I was able to connect the two trails and did the paperwork to make the Twilight Trail part of the Forest system. There was a dedicated group of local mtn bikers who loved riding these trails. On this workday we are rerouting a segment of Twilight Trail that was on the fall line causing lots of sand to pile up. Bill Otersen was really good at riding in a line and we’d clear the brush. It’s Florida and sand so you don’t want to disturb the tread. It’s best when pine straw is on the the trail.

John Kalin was kind enough to allow me to post some of his photos from the workday. To view all his photos visit www.tallahasseetrails.com/Trail-Build/Munson-Hills-Area/Twilight-Zone-Trail-2007-8. My website usually has lots of photos of others. Great to see John took so many of me that I can share.
