Located a few miles south of Columbia, SC is Congaree Swamp, it’s now known as Congaree National Park. It’s a floodplain that fluctuates as waters from the Congaree and Wateree Rivers sweep through the area. The Park has a high boardwalk in times of flood and low boardwalk when the area is dry. They both take you on a loop through the swamp. We liked the area so much that when we raised a baby squirrel andit was time to set him (we called him Monkey) free we took him to the swamp. Was neat to see him run up a tree and look back at us before he disappeared and to his new life.
